The Life Of The Jacka
As you already know we have paired up with West Coast Mafia because we loved their legacy and work, which we followed carefully over the years. It truly is an honor to collaborate with a brand that doesn’t budge in the eyes of injustice, and always stand up for their rights – no matter the circumstances. We looked into the lives of the members of West Coast Mafia, their careers and legacy. Today we are looking into the life of one of the members of WCM that passed away a few years ago, but left a huge legacy for the upcoming generations – The Jacka.
He was born on August 12th, 1977 in Pittsburg California, under the name Dominick Newton. His life started out really rough, with his close relatives struggling with drug addiction and his father in prison, he was forced to make a life of his own. By the age of 14, he was already working a few small jobs in order to help out at home.
However, even with all of the responsibilities that fell upon him from an early age, he still found time to express his creativity and tell his truths through songs. In his free time, he spent hours recording and writing songs with his friends.
And so, his career started in the underground hip-hop scene and starter raising when he joined the Mob Figaz and released the debut album C-bo’s Mob Figaz.
During his career, he wrote and rap about the hardships of underground life and the harsh reality of gang life. Unlike other rappers that praised the evils of gang life, and represented it as a good and “cool” life to live, The Jacka always represented the reality, ugliness, and struggles that come with such a life.
He himself, struggled a lot and was even convicted and imprisoned when the criminal life caught up to him. However, for him, the prison was a catharsis that helped him grow. In prison, he committed to the Muslim religion and focused on becoming a better version of himself. Once released from prison, he released several albums and started touring the world. He was well-respected because he managed to turn his life around, and everyone acknowledged his authenticity.
In February 2015, he was shot by an unidentified gunman, which lead to his death. But, even to this day, The Jacka remains an inspiration to all of us.
