Why is it important to be Independent?

Being your own self, without anyone telling you what to do or what to think is called independence. As you were growing up, you were probably raised to become independent, move out and get a job after college. It’s probably one of the most important things that the way of living in today’s society is trying to teach you – the importance of independence. 

Why is it important to be Independent?

1. Self-confidence

As you become more and more independent, something inside you rises. You feel better and you are better. Your confidence is rising. And that is a good thing! Healthy self-love is very important, you need to know your worth and respect yourself. You need to be the first to give love to yourself. And all of this comes from becoming more independent.

2. Self-reliant

Self-reliance is a very important skill for you to develop. It’s important to be able to trust other people and cooperate with them, but you can’t rely on everyone else all the time. It’s time to rely on the most important person in your own life – yourself. By becoming independent you will see the true beauty of being self-reliant.

3. Better decision making

You can ask for your close friends and family for help when you need to make a decision, but the truth is this is your life. That means whatever decision you make is your decision. When you stop relying on others to make decisions for you, you see all the aspects and results from all possible scenarios. This improves decision making.

4. Freedom of thought

Once you start thinking for yourself, that’s when the true beauty of independence comes to view. Being free of the shackles of what other people say, what you were taught, what other people might think is the best thing that can happen to you. Because this life is your own. You deserve to be happy and live it in a way you see fit to live it. 

5. Moral and compassion

When independence kicks in, so do moral and compassion. You begin to understand how other people that are going through the same changes as yourself are feeling. You feel connected, you belong with the other souls that are on the same journey as you.
