With the launch of our new ZEN collection, we bring you, Renew, a tee reminding you to renew your mind, body and spirit! In our Zen collection, we are focused on the importance of thoughts and their impact on inner peace. Many eastern teachings such as mindfulness and meditation can be helpful for controlling your thoughts and that was our inspiration. Mastering your mind 101. Why do you think you should control your thoughts?

Why should you control your thoughts?

1. It all starts with one thought

In this very minute, stop and think about everything you have and you have accomplished. It’s more than you thought you had – right? And the funny thing is, everything you have accomplished in your life, everything that you have created and built for yourself, all of it started with a thought in your mind. You imagined it, you had the idea in your mind and you have made it into a reality of your own.

This alone, can show you a different perspective of your mind, and how much power a single thought can hold. If you can put one thought into such an amazing reality, then just imagine what you could achieve if you had better control over your mind.

2. Your thoughts are not always your own

As humans, we are social beings, and society has a much greater impact on us and our lives than we care to admit. When you let your mind wander freely, you are also opening it up to other people’s opinions and judgments about you. And when exposed to these thoughts, sometimes on a subconscious level we accept those judgments and perspectives about us as our own. This unconscious acceptance of other people’s perspectives can do so much harm, so much pain, and suffering, and that is no way to push forward and start over.

Why should you control your thoughts?

3. To understand yourself

Most of the time, we are all living on autopilot mode. And when we do that, when we just try to hold on and push through just this day, just this week, we are missing out on a lot. Because in your mind, there are so many thoughts that pass, and you don’t pay attention to a single thought. You don’t control the thought process, your mind wanders and you don’t care where it goes.

And when you do so, you feel different emotions, you are unfocused in life and goal by goal, you keep missing out on achieving them. All the while, you have no idea what or why this is happening to you. You need to observe and direct your thoughts, gain control over them to understand what is truly going on in your life and with yourself. Because without understanding yourself, where you stand and where you would like to go, you can’t move forward and you can’t renew your life.

4. To lead a fulfilling life

Leading a fulfilling life, whatever that life means for you, is the goal of pretty much everyone in the world. We want our lives to have meaning, but without controlling your thoughts you can’t achieve that life. If you don’t understand that thoughts do hold power, if you accept other people’s opinions about yourself as your own and if you don’ understand who you are, you can’t accept yourself. And if you don’t accept yourself, your life will never have meaning. Because this is your life. You are important in your life. And you need to grow, fall and start over in order to achieve the fulfilling life that we all desire.
