Who was Dr. Sebi?
Thanks to the resurfacing of Holistic teachings, In today’s modern medicine, we have a lot of remedies and vaccines. Our health system has improved, and we have discovered a lot of drugs and medicines that can not only cure but also prevent disease. Although today it’s very normal to go to a pharmacy and get pills as medicine, the very first healers didn’t have over the counter modern medicine. Instead, they created tinctures and medicine from herbs and organic plants.
Even today, there are a lot of herbs that can be beneficial, and even used as medicine. In fact, one can argue that herbs can be more effective than modern medicine in some cases.
The best example of this theory is perhaps the research and medicine Dr. Sebi provided. Who Is Dr. Sebi? Dr. Sebi was born as Alfredo Bowman in Honduras, Central America. He was a herbalist that devoted his life to exploring different herbs and creating herbal medicine from them.
This need largely came from the need to become healthier himself. When he came to the United States, he was diagnosed with asthma, diabetes, and obesity. He was treated with modern medicine for his conditions, but because nothing seemed to work, he started to explore the possibility of finding a cure through alternative and herbal medicine. And so, his path lead him to a herbalist in Mexico.
The herbal treatments that he discovered were very efficient, and since he was so pleased with the success of herbal medicine, he started to study herbal medicine himself. He devoted 30 years of his life to studying herbal medicine and created a large private practice based on the methodology and research he conducted during his work. His healing practices were based on herbal medicines, in addition to following a strict diet.
According to the Supreme court ruling in the late 1980s, Doctor Sebi's research of claims that every disease in the body is caused by the creation of mucus in the organs of the body was true. The herbs and the diet he recommended were cleansing the body of that mucus and thus restoring the body to health.
When Dr. Sebi came to the United States and set up his practice, he slowly but surely became very respected as a healer. Many people started to visit his practices in NY and LA, including celebrity Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. He was also deeply respected by the late Nipsey Hussle who studied and shared his work.
Because he didn’t have a medical license, he was sued and prosecuted. It was said that field agents went undercover to his practice, recording the full session, which was later used in the lawsuit. However, the lawsuit failed because the tape that was recorded didn’t show that he made any medical diagnosis. This amazing soul, helped in healing so many people, however once again, at the age of 82 he was arrested for a claim for money laundering.
As he waited to be released from custody, he fell ill, due to the poor conditions of the jail and shortly after that passed away in jail. Today, his practice lives on through people who were personally trained by Dr. Sebi, and his herbal medicines and diet are still available. May he rest in forever peace, Doctor Sebi.
