The Life Of Ella Jones
“It’s just my time to do right by the people.”
Our society has been through a lot over the years. As we evolved, a lot of things changed, but unfortunately not enough so that everyone can live a calm, peaceful life.
The recent events that have stirred massive protests for Black Lives Matter all over the world have shaken our society to the core.
Although the events that caused them were horrifying, for the first time in society, we are finally seeing change – little by little, we are building a better world. One of the people that has done a massive change already is Ella Jones.
Who Is Ella Jones?
Ella Jones has spent most of her life in Ferguson, or to be more exact about 40 years. She is a widow, a mother, and as a pastor, she has devoted her whole life to helping others and her community. When her husband passed away, she was wondering how to go on in her life, and how to live a more meaningful life.
As she explored her options, a fatal shooting occurred in Ferguson – young Michael Brown was shot by a police officer. Although the officer did resign, justice was never served. A very small request for one’s life, don’t you think?
After these events occurred, the community encouraged Jones to pursue a seat on the council and run for mayor. They asked her because they desperately wanted to be treated right and to stop being excluded.
When she first ran for mayor, she lost the fight, but right here and now, she finally won and became the first-ever black woman in the history of Ferguson to become a mayor. When she was asked what she offers to the community she had only one word – inclusion.
Sometimes, it’s even strange to think that so little is asked from a society where black lives are discussed – inclusion and justice – that’s all! And finally, the world is seeing a change. We are so proud of Ella Jones, and we wholeheartedly support her journey to creating a better world, for all of us!
