Feminism- Is it all about the women?
One of the most common misconceptions that I have heard of is that Feminism is a women’s movement. All the feminists are women and they are in this pack together and they are invincible. Well, I understand the need for Feminism to start off this way, since women didn’t have any rights and no man would join the movement at first because it was below his honor to accept a woman as his equal. With time many things have changed but we still seem to cling to these beliefs.
It’s good to support each other but the thing is I saw several cases in which so-called feminists were spreading hatred for men, the very thing Feminism fought against. It is not about girl power and it is certainly not about spreading hatred.
Feminism is not all about women – it’s about equality. It’s about the ability to be seen as a human being regardless of the content of your underwear. In fact any decent human being, that doesn’t care if you are female or male or that doesn’t deny any other human being it’s human rights is a Feminist.

Susan B. Anthony is one of the most well-known activists in history. She started off as a supporter of the Civil Rights and afterward started the most important movement in Feminisms history – The National Woman Suffrage Association and fought vigorously to be equal. To be treated as any man would. She even got arrested when she tried to vote and demanded to not be let off easy simply because she is a woman. She demanded to be sent to jail and instead she got a fine of 100 dollars for breaking the law. Anthony looked at the judge and right then and there told him that she will not pay a penny to a system that is unjust.
Women, sometimes you can’t do it all, and not because you are women, but simply because any person wouldn’t be able to do it all. Sometimes receiving a helping hand doesn’t mean you are anything less than human. So don’t deepen the separation between people by adding one more thing to the list that separates us from each other, don’t prolong and repeat the bitter history.
